Why do I need Travel Insurance?

Unfortunate events such as baggage loss, passport loss, a medical emergency or an accident can affect your travels, whether for business or leisure. Travel Insurance protects you from such perils by ensuring that you are not left stranded in any kind of emergency.

Who can apply for Fairfirst Travel Insurance?

If you are a permanent resident in Sri Lanka and are undertaking travel to an overseas destination, you can apply for Fairfirst Travel Insurance.

Who can be insured under Travel policy?

Single Cover

The Policy covers you if you are under 75 years of age.

Family Special Cover

The Policy covers you if you are below 65 and your financially dependent children or grandchildren, who are above six months and under 23 years of age, plus your spouse or any adult Travelling Companion named in the Certificate of Insurance, all of whom must travel with you.

Can I buy travel insurance if I am aged 75+?

Fairfirst Senior Citizen Travel Insurance is available and valid only for travellers aged between 76 years and 85 years at the date of departure. This policy is subject to satisfactory medical certificate.

What are the medical expenses limits available under FF Travel Insurance?

The medical expenses limits are dependent on the type of plan you choose according to your travel destination.

What are the benefits (covers) available under FF Travel Insurance Policy?

Can I extend my policy while I’m away?

Yes you can, prior to the expiry date of your original Policy, apply for an extension on your original Policy by payment of the required premium.

You will be required to confirm your travel arrangements at the time of obtaining the Policy. We will parallelly review this information and your claims history before we decide on your application for extended cover. Terms and conditions may apply, or we may decide not to offer an extension.
Cover must not exceed a period of 12 months in total from the departure date on your original Certificate of Insurance.

When does the cover begin?

The Insurance cover commences on the day specified in the Policy Schedule or the time you board the conveyance to leave for onward overseas journey or the commencement date as per the policy, whichever is later.

Till when is the policy valid?

Insurance Cover shall terminate (i) with the end of Insurance Period i.e. the period for which the premium has been paid or (ii) when the insured person first disembarks on return to Sri Lanka.

Which destination should I choose?

You should select the travel plan designated for your destination. If you have a multiple destination itinerary you should select the travel plan for the destination where you will spend the majority of your Trip overseas. FF Travel Insurance offers territorial limits as follows.

– Worldwide including USA & Canada
– Worldwide excluding USA & Canada
– Asian Countries excluding Japan

What are the excluded destinations?

This policy will not cover any loss, damage or legal liability arising directly or indirectly from travel in, to, or through Afghanistan, Cuba, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iran, Iraq, Liberia, Sudan, or Syria.

Will I get a refund if I cancel my policy?

You can get your policy cancelled only if you have not undertaken the journey due an to acceptable reason such as visa refusal & family emergency. As such you should produce your passport as a proof that the journey has not been undertaken. Any such request of cancellation will be entertained up to 14 days after the first date of insurance as indicated in the schedule of the policy. In case of cancellation of your policy, a specified amount will be deducted as administration charges, from the refundable amount. 

What adventure activities are not covered?

Hunting, racing other than on foot, playing polo, professional sport, mountaineering or rock climbing using ropes or climbing equipment (other than hiking), pot holing, or travelling in international waters in a private sail vessel or privately registered sail vessel. This list is not exhaustive. Should you have further queries please contact our Call Centre and/or review the policy wording. 

What if I have an existing medical condition?

You should declare your medial conditions to us prior to purchasing the Travel Policy. Any claim due to or arising out of pre-existing medical condition/ailment whether declared or undeclared is not covered under the policy.

Who do I contact for emergency assistance whilst overseas?

In the case of an emergency from anywhere is the world, call Euro Center on + 6626963667. Euro Center is our International Travel Assistance Service Provider. The most essential service they provide is cashless medical services. They also provide the necessary information to deal with in regards to  any claims problems.

What is the documentation required under various sections?
